Sir, - During the past year the fertilizer and miscellaneous work of this Department has largely increased. The increase has been so great that another assistant chemist became necessary, and Mr. H. L. Davidson, of Blacksburg, was gotten in February to fill the position. Mr. Davidson has the degree of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and was assistant and instructor in the same institution for about three years and a half.
