Excerpt from Europe Since Napoleon
This brief history of the nineteenth century was written before the present European situation arose, and therefore with no special reference to the events of to-day. I hope, however, that it may supply a rapid outline of past events since the great Napoleonic struggle, which will throw some light upon the present. It is intended, primarily, for young people who have had no opportunity of following European politics during a long period of years, through the newspapers.
