Detective Sergeant Frank Summers is in the doghouse, despite having recently arrested an internationally sought con-artist. His attractive boss Frieda Garold, his possible girlfriend pathologist Susan Pleadle, and his buxom constable Giggling Gertie are all pointedly not talking to him - or at least not while any of the others are around. And since he is in the doghouse he has no intention of pointing out that there is something very strange about the supposed con-artist, Guillaume Matisse, the attractive French police woman who has come to interview Matisse, one Capitaine Jean Tromperie, not to mention the two detectives claiming to be from Scotland Yard, Detective Superintendent Campbell and Detective Sergeant Hovis. Oh, no, he is going to stay well out of the way this time. Especially when the feathers start to fly between Tromperie, Frieda, Susan and Gertie. It's not so much a case of putting the cat amongst the pigeons as putting a cat amongst the cats.
