As a teenager, James Ellis, an American Indian, rejected his grandfather's teachings, his heritage and his culture. It was a bitter parting that cut deeply. Now a Colonel in the United States Air Force, Ellis, for political reasons, is assigned a mission to fly over a nuclear bomb test site, a cavern in Nevada. Petroglyphs at the cave entrance warn all visitors and intruders that it is dangerous to disturb the cave or the ground around it. Ellis knows it is a sacred site and he knows his assignment is bogus, designed to eliminate protest. Seeking guidance, he returns to his Grandfather's teachings; alone in the wilderness, he builds a ceremonial fire and speaks to Grandfather. He is visited by a Spirit Guide. Unable to believe the Guide is real, Ellis proceeds unguided, follows orders and flies to the bomb site. The Earth is bleeding. An image of a woman, ten times the size of a human, dressed in traditional American Indian style, lying in a pool of blood, reaches out a blood stained hand and begs forgiveness. Ellis thinks he is hallucinating. Ellis stands at Fate's Crossover. To save Mother Earth, he must journey into the mystical world of his Grandfather, Dancing Bear.
