This collection of papers examines issues of gender and cultural identities in the prehistoric Aegean and wider Mediterranean worlds, with a particular focus on the Bronze Age. Contributors tackle a wide range of themes such as gender identities and gender roles, the life-cycle and its importance in the creation of female identity, including childhood, coming of age, womanhood and motherhood, previous theoretical approaches to gender in the prehistoric Aegean, and the contributions of female archaeologists to the discipline.
