The wild scream of anguish, the ringing strokes of the nail heads being driven deeply into the wood and the unmistakable crack of a vicious whip split the charged air. All three of these spoke of a day of infamy. It was a day like no other, a day long ago when God Himself turned His back on His own Son. Two thousand years ago a man lived a perfect life. He walked this earth without sin, was even judged to be innocent by the civil authorities of His day and yet He was still beaten and tortured at the hands of cruel blood-thirsty soldiers. Betrayed and forsaken, doomed to die, this lone man was despised and rejected like no other man ever was before. His hands and feet were nailed cruelly to a cross and He was left there to endure a slow, agonizing death for the sins of the world. Crowds mocked and stared at Him as He hung there between Heaven and earth. At one point even the sun refused to shine. I am uniquely qualified to tell you His story, to recount for you His suffering and His death, because I was there that fateful day. I was crucified with Christ.
