"Iheukwumere: A Great Event is a tribute to Archbishop Fortunatus A. Nwachukwu on the occasion of episcopal ordination and appointment as Apostolic Nuncio to Nicaragua by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. Msgr. Nwachukwu, 52, a priest from Nigeria, joined the Diplomatic Corps of the Holy See in 1994. He served in Ghana, Paraguay, Algeria, Tunisia, and Switzerland. He returned to the Vatican in 2007 when Pope Benedict XVI appointed him the Head of Protocol. He served in that capacity until his current appointment on November 12, 2012. He and three other archbishops were ordained on the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord on January 6, 2013.
This book is a heart-felt reaction to the recognition of a wonderful person for being very good in what he set out to become from almost 29 years ago when he was ordained a priest. Archbishop Fortunatus Anthony Nwachukwu has never desired to be any other thing but a priest. His focus, dedication, and continued efforts to be a very good priest have kept him excelling to the point of being consecrated an archbishop. This tribute extols the virtues of dedication, sincerity, and spirituality that have been the character of Archbishop Nwachukwu. Coming from among the Ngwa in Igboland of Southeastern Nigeria, the culture and traditions of his people honor those who have exceled in their occupations or vocations. It is a great event hence the title, Iheukwumere."
