Its scary saying something out loud that has been private in your head, but it does feel good to get it out of there. Its kinda like cleaning up the dirty, sticky, messy, dead rodent stuff out of a kitchen. When youre done, it just feels better, like theres a clean space to fill with new things. When youre a fifth grader who has a not-so normal life, its hard to pretend that everything is okay. Jack works hard to hide the truth, tucking it away so he doesnt have to think about it. That seems to work, at least for a while. When others find out his secret, Jack relies on the kindness and support of his little buddy, his best friend, his soft-hearted principal, and a very unusual woman to help him through a very difficult situation. He learns how it feels to depend on someone and have someone depend on you.
