inwords is Mexican-American poet Rigo Garcia Jr.'s offering to the loners of the world, the ones who live in the in-betweens, the ones who shape-shift in order to fit in.
All handwritten by Garcia and textured with mirroring introspection, painfully-honest prose, and the sensory experience of growing up while moving throughout California (Fresno, Selma, Stockton, Sacramento, and mainly The Bay) between an in-and-out of incarceration father, a young single mother, and Tias (Aunties) & Tios (Uncles). These poems deal with displacement, identity, masculinity, generational-trauma, death, but also love, presence, spirituality, and hope.
Garcia draws on the rhythmic meter of Hip-hop, the intimacy of a heart to heart with a friend, and the vulnerability of a journal entry.
These poems & prose are a journey inwards, in words.
