English summary: In the 1970s, NATO commissioned air-hygienic-meteorological model studies for the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region. Based on these studies, Till Behrens developed a master plan for Frankfurt, which was honored by the government of the Land Hessen as a "framework concept". Frankfurt was given the unique opportunity to become a role model for climatic urban planning in Europe. However, the city ignored this as well as the citizen commitment.
