A study of the archaeology of Malta during tha time of the Phoenicians and the Carthaginians, examining its transition from a quiet backwater to an important Phoenician colony and staging post on their trade routes, then to an important centre of Carthaginian trade in its own right, and finally to a quiet place to rest under the Romans.
