The Contes et Discours d'Eutrapel of 1585 stage the same three Noel Du Fail colourful characters as the Baliverneries' (1548) but they have gained depth and density in this mature work. Comic stories alternate with moral reflections on the major topics of the time : justice, human relationships, illness, politics.
