The fourth album in approximately 18 months from the teen pop trio is a 12-song live set recorded on July 21, 1998 in Seattle during the brothers' first major tour, and it comes complete with screaming girls, pointless stage chatter and a mini-drum solo by
Zac
. Much of
Hanson's
breakthrough record,
Middle of Nowhere
, is given props on
Live from Albertane
(incidentally, the title is a riff on one of their songs,
"Man from Milwaukee,"
which closes both
Nowhere
and this album); "Where's the Love" and "I Will Come to You" are the best represented. There's also a new song, "Ever Lonely," as well as covers of "Money (That's What I Want)" and "Gimme Some Lovin'/Shake a Tail Feather," which is more bland
Blues Brothers
than soulful
Steve Winwood
. And the wan "MMMBop" included here proves that the song's charm was just as much the
Dust Brothers
as it was the
Hanson
brothers. ~ Michael Gallucci
