Cole and Cruz are back and the chase is on!
August 2006. One year on from the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Katrina. A wealthy adult movie producer receives a series of disturbing poison pen letters and later he is found shot to death in his luxury home in the Garden District. Three years earlier he lost his wife in a tragic boating accident, but now someone swears they saw her running away from the murder scene.
As the mystery unravels, Cole and Cruz find themselves knee-deep in unsolved murders and general mayhem. Industry rivals, jealous actors, simmering family resentments, sexual exploitation, embezzlement, kidnapping, and a distraught German Shepherd dog, all contribute to the deepening mystery. Then the murdered man's daughter disappears.
The whole case takes a turn for the worse when something unthinkable happens to Cole's friend, Father Carrol, while he's under his protection. It doesn't matter what secrets the dead man's family are trying to hide, this time it's personal and Gabriel Cole won't rest until he's brought the killer to justice.
