Gary Broughman's poems
reflect his dedication to living well and living boldly in a modern world designed to silence the voices of original thinkers. A child of the revolutionary 1960s, Mr. Broughman is respected by those who know him as a counter-cultural force who is also accepting of the thoughts and ideas of those with whom he may disagree. His poems challenge establishment conventions, yet are life affirming and full of hope and promise for the future of humankind on our planet. Born in Detroit, Michigan, a true son of the working class, his blue-collar identity colors everything he does, including his mission as a writer, theater producer, and new thought spiritual teacher. Mr. Broughman began writing poetry in 2008 while on a creative sabbatical in Chicago. Living in the Uptown neighborhood on the city's Northside, he discovered the Uptown Poetry Slam at the Green Mill Jazz Club and began writing to perform there. After returning to Florida, he published his novel-
The Tree of Forgotten Truth
-and a trilogy of poetry anthologies titled
Poets of Central Florida
. He later became chief editor of the Florida State Poets Association's annual anthology,
Cadence
. His publishing company, CHB Media, has published 100 titles in various genres since 2010. In addition, he is an actor, theater director, and executive producer of Positively Florida Theater Company.
