Nestled in the hills of Villalba, Puerto Rico, is a large animal sanctuary called Second Chance Animal Sanctuary of Puerto Rico. Here, many of Puerto Rico's incredibly large population of stray dogs find a safe home, where they receive food, medical care, and lots of love, until their forever families can be found, either in Puerto Rico or on the US mainland via sister organizations in New Hampshire and Minnesota.
