Vi befinner oss i södra Sverige. Året är 2047 och världen är på väg att förändras med en revolutionerande vetenskaplig upptäckt som Maya har varit med om att utforska, nu för ett globalt forskningsprojekt på kosmisk nivå i samarbete med en utomjordisk civilisation. När berättelsen sätter igång är Maya och hennes kollega i färd med att förbereda kandidaten/objektet för det huvudsakliga forskningsprojektet i den inledande säkerhetsfasen från NST - men allt förändras. Plötsligt dyker det upp saker från Mayas förflutna. Märkliga och mystiska händelser äger rum. Säkerhetsuppdraget från NST blockeras oväntat av egendomliga, oförklarliga och bedrägliga skeenden, både i hennes privatliv och i uppdraget.
