Twelve chapters written mainly by an international group of physicists discuss topics of importance in the field of high-Tc superconductivity including coexistence of the Hund's coupling triplet and the Zhang-rice singlet in the metallic state of cuprates; extension of BCS superconducting theory; critical temperature and energy gap in superconductors with singularities in the density of states; and microscopic models for a marginal Fermi liquid behavior.
