"My Brother Max" is a heartwarming story written by a 7-year-old girl about her bond with her beloved German Shepherd and the loss she feels when he is suddenly diagnosed and passes away due to cancer.
Max has been with Kaia's parents since before Kaia was born. He was their first baby and eventually became a "brother" to a baby girl named Kaia. After 7 years of being together, one day Kaia & her parents notice that something is wrong with Max. He stops eating and starts not wanting to behave like his normal self. After taking him to the vet the family finds out that he has cancer and within weeks is put down. Kaia, who has been with Max since birth has to find a way to not only understand and cope with Max' death but learn to live her life without her "brother".
