NOT GUILTY?
This book tells the true story of the horrific sexual assault and murder of a nine year old schoolgirl in Elm Park Garden City in Hornchurch, East London.
On a cold winter's day in January 1939, nine year old Pamela Coventry came home from school for her midday meal as usual and then set off for the walk back to school for her afternoon lessons. Somewhere along that journey she disappeared and her naked and violated body was found in a ditch the next day.
Scotland Yard led the investigation into her murder, and after a couple of weeks 28 year old Leonard Richardson, a resident of the Elm Park estate, who was a married man and father of two young children, was arrested and charged.
The book examines the evidence gathered during the investigation and presented at his Old Bailey trial in great detail. Was the "Not Guilty" verdict just or did he get away with murder?
