Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is once again on the outs. Her days of living anonymously with the Humans are over. Her father has called upon her to uphold an historic peace accord between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres. The Weres are despicable and unpredictable. Their leader, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He leads his pack with authority, yet not without compassion. He keeps his eye on Misery. It’s obvious he doesn't trust her, nor should he. Misery has her own reasons for agreeing to this marriage of convenience that have nothing to do with politics. She wants to recuperate what she has lost, even if it means living among the Weres with a wolf.
