The proceedings will present papers given at a conference in Greifswald. They covered a spectrum of topics from the past to the present dealing with history, theology, art history and politics. The aim was to offer the opportunity for a discussion of the manifold aspects which influence the present situation in the Near East and beyond and especially the Eastern churches and their relationship within the muslim societies.
