Fine-looking and fine-sounding collection of unreleased stereo versions and alternate takes, this is nonetheless unnecessary for all but completists. In the spirit of numerous bootlegs (though this LP is quite official), these are in the main studio recordings with small (sometimes minute) differences in the mixing, or stereo versions which are not easy to come by on official releases, although mono versions of the exact same takes are plentiful. There are plenty of fine songs here ( ), but they're better heard both in their more common versions, and in the context of a coherent anthology. And if you need to settle for just one version of or why spring for the without the echoed vocal, or missing a guitar overdub? ~ Richie Unterberger
