Andre is back, sharing his emotional coming-of-age story. He has finally arrived in his very own promised land-the campus of the Hanson Memorial Tigers-where older brother Duncan once roamed. But both confusion and contentment with his family, especially with his father and brother, continue to spin inside him. This, while he must also navigate his newfound stardom with new friends at a new school. And this, as his concern for his mom is growing as her own mother is dying. His grandfather Paw Joe returns to Andre's life when the young boy finally starts visiting his sick grandmother again. The old man has a wealth of wisdom, not to mention a secret former amateur boxing career he is thinking about passing on to Andre. Unfortunate run-ins around town with some of Andre's St. Jude friends convince him that trouble is looming, not for himself, but for his unsuspecting grandson.
