Prince George was created in 1703 from Charles City County and in turn it gave birth to Brunswick and Dinwiddle Counties. Many of the county's records were destroyed by fire during the Revolutionary & Civil Wars. Even though the county was not created until 1703, these records (Land Patents) begin in 1666 when it was part of Charles City and continue on through 1719.
