The small town of Oppitidale, Iowa prides itself on being perfectly average. A carefully calibrated mediocrity. The American ideal of a modern Midwestern corn-farming town. Anytown, USA. Every family and individual in the town has an assigned role in its society, and are expected to fit that role perfectly. Any change or disruption to the status quo will cause panic and chaos. So naturally, when Oppitidale residents begin to go missing during the 150th annual Harvest Festival, the town devolves into mayhem. Friends turn on friends, neighbors turn on neighbors in a circuit of rumors and finger-pointing that eventually lead to an eclectic group of students at Oppitidale High School: Adler Currian, Zinny Forte, Aria Andrist, Lia Andrist and Edwin Embry. With all of the accusations against them, they must find a way to clear their own names, uncovering hidden secrets about Oppitidale and its residents along the way.
