Despite its relative youth, the short story, sometimes called "afsaana," is one of the most significant literary subgenres in Urdu literature. The modern industrial and mechanized surroundings, as well as literary and conceptual trends from the West, had an impact on this. This book "Shaheed aur diigar Afsane" collects a selection of short stories from contemporary Urdu fiction that were written by Urdu fiction writer Ali Hasan Samandtoor.
