When Malik's brother DeShawn tells him to go and speak to the pretty girl he'd been staring at all night at his 23rd birthday party, he never guessed the path it might lead him down.
A casual chat, a couple of beers and before long Malik and Deja are an item, hanging out and messing around together like it was always meant to be.
But life delivers a surprise for them both when Deja informs Malik that she's late and might be pregnant. Suddenly two promising careers are on hold as they try to work out what's for the best. For Malik, being a father at 23 wasn't exactly what he had planned, but it isn't something that scares him to death either.
But for Deja, being a mother and putting her career on hold, as well as all the rest that goes with it, is a lot to consider. Malik tries his best to make things right between them, but is Deja ready to be wifey or is it too much responsibility to deal with?
