Mushroom lovers, rejoice! Trader Joe’s Sliced Shiitake Mushrooms are here to rescue all your mushroom-y meals—and your time—from the clutches of mundane prep work. These funky fungi come thinly sliced, blanched, and individually quick-frozen (or “IQF,” for the uninitiated), with absolutely nothing added. All the hard work—washing, slicing, and blanching—has been done for you.

Native to Asia (ours come from Vietnam), Shiitakes are known for their rich, earthy flavor and meaty-yet- buttery texture when cooked. Simply add the amount of Sliced Shiitake Mushrooms you need to a dry pan, sauté them until any excess moisture dissipates, then season them as desired (or don’t!), and you’ve got yourself some tender, umami-packed ’shrooms! You can also skip the sautéing and add them directly to soups, stir-fries, pasta sauces, pizzas, and anything else your mushroom-loving heart desires.
