A war rages in the heart of 16-year-old Chase Henderson, a war between who she is and who those close to her define her to be.
Aside from the pressures of high school, finding her identity and accepting the young woman she has become, Chase also has a battle at home, one she fears she will never win. She is convinced she will never be beautiful, special or good enough to please her mother. All her life she has been told she will never be those things she longs to be, leaving her hopeless and confused.
The marching band field is the only place Chase feels she truly belongs. And when she meets and befriends a confident and good-looking high school senior who makes a marriage pact with her, Chase wonders if he might be the answer to her problems.
