Although this is a fictitious story, many military children and families in addition to many children around the world deal with the reality of having to move and re-acclimate themselves during the course of their family's military career. A lot of military children find themselves meeting new friends, and before long they find themselves having to move to adjust to new schools, teachers, academics, and friends. This story is heartwarming as it tells about a little 5th grade boy and his family who moved to their first duty station. Marvin, a 5th grade little boy, is worried about his dad having to leave the family as soon as they move to Kingville Military Base. He also misses his friends at this previous school, and he doesn't know what to expect from his new school, especially since it is on a military base. He's nervous and unsure about being welcomed, and who will he talk to during recess, and who will he eat with during lunch time. Marvin quickly learned that his love for music was shared by his new band teacher, two special twin boys, along with everyone in his 5th grade band class. To help welcome Marvin, Mrs. Kasey and her band students arranged for the best 5th grade recital the school had ever had. What a salute to Marvin's dad and family, and what a day to remember for everyone! As for Marvin, all he could say was "Thanks Band Class!"
