"Blue Underground has given Elio Petri's zesty and visually inventive satire La Decima Vittima (aka The 10th Victim) a fresh release on Region One DVD after its initial North American DVD presentation from Anchor Bay Entertainment dropped out of print. The new edition of The 10th Victim has been given a widescreen transfer to disc, letterboxed at the 1.85:1 aspect ratio of conventional televisions and enhanced for anamorphic play on 16:9 monitors. The quality of the image is very good indeed; Gianni Di Venanzo's cinematography looks sharp and clear on this disc, and the colors and both natural and sharply vivid when they need to be. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo and features two different sound tracks -- the original Italian language track, which is clear and pleasing, and a dubbed English-language version, which is louder but has a harsher tone that leans heavier on the high end (though the dubbing is good for the period). The disc also features optional English subtitles, which are clear and easy to read. Bonus materials include the picture's original British-release trailer and biographical essays and filmographies for stars Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress. There isn't a significant difference between Blue Underground's new version of The 10th Victim and the out-of-print Anchor Bay release in terms of quality and features, so if you have the old disc you probably won't feel the need to upgrade it, but fans who've been looking for the movie while its been unavailable will be happy to find it back in print and looking great."
