In this short story, , Sherlock Holmes appears to be dying. While on a case, he contracted a rare tropical disease, Tapanuli fever. Dr. Watson wants to examine him, but, curiously, Holmes won't let him come anywhere near. Then, even more curious, he instructs Watson to bring Mr. Culverton Smith to him. That's when the fun really begins!
