An 11-track collection, this is far short of being a "best-of" from
Woody Herman's Herd
, but there are some prime cuts. The beautiful
"Tenderly,"
upbeat classics like
"Woodchopper's Ball,"
"Apple Honey,"
and the group jive bop singing of
George Wallington
's
"Lemon Drop"
are all within the realm of
Herman
's best. You always want more, and expect what's advertised, but considering its total time of under 38 minutes, this compilation could have housed double the music it offers. ~ Michael G. Nastos
