At a time when cancer wasn't really talked about, I had to live it. Cancer, or the "C" word can destroy a person but I will show you how it shaped one. Cancer was coming at a time when I didn't need it, didn't understand it, or didn't want it. It was just there. This is the story of how I saw my mother's cancer through my own eyes and how it affected me during my pre-teen years. It is how surviving and trying to put the pieces together as best as I could were a constant struggle. With the strength and love of family and my faith, it was possible.
