Probably a couple of thousand pounds, or equal to five thousand pounds to-day, fell to her (upwards of 1000 being destined for the children's portions on reaching twenty-one or marriage). One is glad to be able to conclude that the cradle of Master Abraham was rocked in a home of comparative com fort.
