doesn't offer a lot of info on the sources for the recordings that grace

, only that they represent "a collection of laid-back
recordings from the 1960s and '70s...." In a way, these recordings have the same sort of appeal as
Crazy: The Demo Sessions
, released in 2003 by
Sugar Hill
, tracing the master back to his roots. And while the recording quality on
doesn't match the
material, it is a fairly solid collection (
"I Let My Mind Wander,"
"I Didn't Sleep a Wink"
). The album also provides a fuzzy snapshot of what
sounded like before he became the
you now know. The problem, though, is that without a better idea where the material for
