Excerpt from The Hakes Family Ridiara' ffalees, 0. At Stonington, Conn., April. 8th, 1741, was a soldier in the Revolution ary war; 000. Farmer. He accumulated quite a fortune, and had intended after the war to invest largely in land in Central New York. But his Continental money or script became worthless, and so he remained in Stonington until he accumulated a suf ficient sum of money to remove to Pitcher, Chenango County, New York, about the year 1800, where he purchased a large amount of land, upon which he settled with his large family, and where he died in 1815. He married Mary Babcock at Stonington, Conn., August 11, 1763, and, as will be seen further on, had thirteen children.
