U.S. Marshall Bovard (Robert Taylor) sets out to capture a fugitive, Johnny Bishop (Jack Lord). Johnny has taken up residence in a new town and has become a solid citizen, supported by the people including the sheriff (Fess Parker). The marshall must wrestle with his conscious as he decides whether to capture the fugitive or not.
