Originally published in 1884, this book is the first known study of the visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich concerning the Three Holy Kings. In addition to the wealth of details found in the visions of Emmerich, the author uses information from historical, geographical and archaeological works to bring ancient Mesopotamia to life and provide the reader with a deeper understanding of who these three men were, where they lived, how and why they traveled to Bethlehem, and what happened to them after they returned to their home country.
The author, Anton Urbas (1822-1899), served as cathedral pastor and canon of the cathedral in the city of Laibach, modern-day Ljubljana in Slovenia. His book, written in the German language, is sometimes mentioned when Emmerich is discussed, but it is not easy to get hold of a copy and rather difficult to read in its original Fraktur typeface and small font size. We hope that this English translation will be of use to readers who wish to learn more about those mysterious Three Holy Kings.
