After leaving her New York detective career behind, she retires to the Adirondacks, but even the rolling mountains and wondrous beauty cannot keep evil at bay. It's been years since The Glades burned to the ground, and evidence of the horrendous sex trafficking ring seems to have vanished with the smoke. But then, a new congressional investigation reveals the existence of a document with the names of the predators. Believing Maddy knows where the document is, the predators dispatch hit men and mobster thugs, along with Maddy's long-time nemesis, Naomi White. After learning the stakes and extent of this menace, Maddy's law enforcement colleagues find themselves in a race against the clock to save her, all while the former detective must find greater fortitude than she's ever had before.
