For comparison with the formalin-permanganate method many experiments under similar conditions were also carried out with each of the other well-known methods of obtaining formaldehyde gas, namely, the retort, autoclave, generating lamp, sheet-spraying, and formalin-aluminum sulphate-ii me methods.
