Early years
Delacruz was born in SAJOMA in the province of Santiago, Dominican Republic. He was the third child in a family of five of a single mother. Throughout most of his early childhood, he lived with his mother. He migrated to the city of Santiago de los Caballeros when he was 14 years old. He attended Colegio Prof. Milagros Hernandez and graduated from high school in 1982. The same year he attended UCMM of Santiago and started studying economy. In 1984 he married Rosa Marmol with whom he had 3 children, Oscar, Jonathan and Naudis. He quit school and immigrated to New York with his family in 1987. Since he was very young he was fascinated with writing and often was motivated by his teachers to become a writer. But it was only until he graduated from law school in 2009 when he really decided working very seriously on it. In 2008 he divorced his long time wife of 22 years which affected him emotionally and paused his studies for a whole semester which delayed his graduation, but at the same time inspired him to pursue his writing career. After graduating from law school he returned to New York City and took some workshop courses in Gotham school and once again was greatly motivated by his teacher who was an author and teacher at Presbyterian University. Since all the students had to write a short story to be analyzed in class, his teacher was fascinated with his story and style of narrating it, she strongly recommended him to pursue the writing career. His first book is already being published entitled "Birds of a feather flock together" this book is about a married "con artists" couple who try to succeed and do whatever they can to get it, ripping off their own family and friends and even the government.
