Howard Pyle (Mar 5, 1853 - Nov 9, 1911) was an American illustrator and author. In 1894 he began teaching illustration at the Drexel Institute. On the verge of twentieth century, he has founded his own school of art. His classic publication of The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood remains in print up to date due to its popularity. He published his first novel, Otto of the Silver Hand, in 1888. He also illustrated historical and adventure stories for papers and magazines.
The Price of Blood is a historical novel by Howard Pyle. The narrative is set in New-York city in the beginning of XIX century. It was a time when the small town of New York entered its final stages of transformation into the Big Apple we all know. A great inflow of immigrants from Europe began, filling the city with people of numerous cultures. But diversity comes hand in hand with disorder. And one young lawyer has to make his career in those restless times.
