The gospel is "good news," but why is it good? In order to grow churches and to increase revenue, many persons have diluted the gospel message to make it more attractive and "marketable." But the true, undiluted gospel is offensive, unattractive, and even painful. For it strikes at the core of self and pride. The gospel reveals our real wretchedness and does not cater to our desire for flattery. Yet, it is through all of this that we can truly begin to understand the incredible goodness of the message; and possibly for many, to no longer be lulled into a false security.
