During a magisterial performance of the Chopin preludes at Carnegie Hall, reclusive young concert pianist Laszlo Farkas is abducted.
Magnus Aarden, a star researcher in artificial intelligence, sets out across the Atlantic from Manhattan aboard an enormous sailing yacht. Also in New York City are Lysander Bennett, an art curator down on his luck, and Nesrin, a Syrian waitress with an unexpected special forces history. Now, she's determined to secure the job of rescuing Laszlo. But she can't do it alone.
Laszlo awakens within a fever dream. The gears of memory take him on a journey back over the course of his life. But there's a glitch. He's aware of being aboard a ship. Something dangerous is happening. And it may be up to him to stop it.
