The Thousand Year Journey of Tobias Parker is the story of a failed San Francisco screenwriter who makes a desperate last gasp to leave his mark on the world. When Tobias Parker discovers that every family on Earth is here to accomplish a particular task, he becomes determined to fulfill his family's destiny. He learns that a unique battle is passed through the generations from father to son and mother to daughter, and that once the mission is fulfilled, the family takes its place as a piece in a kind of celestial jigsaw puzzle. As Tobias embarks on his final project, his life becomes a breathless whirlwind that throws Hollywood, science, mysticism, romance and history into a roiling stew. Along the way, he's guided by his lovably loony agent, encounters Mel Brooks, contemplates Frank Lloyd Wright, and confronts the devil in his many faces.
