Back in the early 1970s, a group of African American veterans realized that their unique contributions during World War II were not being told in the history books or movies most Americans were seeing. They set out to "fix" that error to make sure their achievements, that had a major impact on civil rights movements in the United States and abroad, would be known.
Fast forward to today, and Dr. Deborah Hall-Greene Thomas is continuing their mission for a young audience with "They Believed They Could Fly...And They DID! The Tuskegee Airmen".
