Going to school is tough sometimes, especially when there is a large bully tormenting you and your friends. Nigel and his friends Patrick and Rex rule the small elementary school in South Dakota. They are the bullies of the school and make all of the rules at recess. All of the kids at the school fear them, except for Titus Lakota who stands up to Nigel and his friends. But he finds out that stating up to the bully of the school is a lot harder than he thought it would be. Titus finds himself in a challenge with Nigel he cannot back away from. Titus has to come up with a challenge both he and Nigel can do to settle the issue at school. If Titus wins than Nigel and his friends can't bully anyone anymore at school. If Nigel wins than he and his friends can continue to bully everyone at the school and Titus can't stand up to them anymore. Titus remembers what his Uncle said to him before he had committed suicide about a dream catcher with magical powers hidden in the Black Hills. He also told him when he was old enough he was to go on a vision quest to find the dream catcher. Titus believes he is old enough and uses this as his challenge with Nigel. They go to speak to Dante who used to be mayor of the city and friend of Titus' uncle. Titus learns that his uncle was killed and that the dream catcher is more mysterious than he thought. Nigel and his friends along with Titus and his friends Oliver and Cash embark on a journey in the Black Hills in search for the dream catcher. Dante gives Titus some magical things his uncle had left for him which allowed him to look into an ancient record that told him things about the dream catcher and his people the Lakota. They find that there are others searching for the dream catcher too. After obtaining the dream catcher, Titus and his friends are almost killed several times by hired professional killers. They subdue the professional killers and learn of some of the powers of the dream catcher. In the end they discover that a tribal leader is behind the plot to capture the dream catcher for himself to gain power and eventual become president of the United States. He is killed by one of his own hired killers. Then when Titus and the rest go home and believe all the danger is over and they can resume their normal lives. Titus learns that he set free a evil man from over two thousand years in the past who also wants the dream catcher. He has special powers of his own, and it becomes a struggle between him and Titus. In the end Titus uses the dream catcher to defeat Cochiti the evil man from the past and finally life in the small town in South Dakota returns to normal, and Titus under the direction of the tribal council decides to hide the dream catcher so that it could not be used for evil, and that the world is not ready for it. Nigel the school bully renounced his power over the school and turns out to be one of Titus' best friends.
