Around the turn of the century, the sport of professional rodeo was possibly at its highest. At one point, it was estimated there were more than 700+ professional rodeos in the North American continent. The American rodeo cowboy along with their Canadian counterparts could make a modest living. Some have even said that it was the last true way to be a cowboy outlaw. Mythical, fearless, legends would ride into town do amazing ballet in their events, whether it be bareback, saddle bronc or bull riding, a winner take all mentality and before you knew it ... poof they were gone into the sunset. Not much different from their outlaw counterparts of 100 years past. But while Vegas may be the big finale at the end of the year, out of all the rodeos across the land there are none quite like Cheyenne.
Jason Grey, however, was not one of those legends. A man in his Late twenties who seemed to only survive from season to season and rodeo to rodeo. His only legendary status is wild antics he would go through to get to shows on no money, less sleep, and somehow at the end of every season come up short of the big one in Vegas. Just like in the past, this year Cheyenne Frontier Days looked to be just like every other one had been. Coming up short, with a bad run of luck topped off with a dash of tragedy. Alone and broke, with demons of the past weighing him down it won't be luck that will take this cowboy into the new millennia a legend, it'll come down to a mistake in an odd twist of fate.
